Brian Buckrell: June 19- 23, 2017, acrylic /oil, en plein air with the first two days painting in the studio.


Painting surfaces

 use quality canvas boards or panels :8X10 ,11X14, 12X16

 or use Masonite treated with at least 2 coats of gesso

 treat 2 with black gesso


Drawing

 pencils: 2B, 4B

 watercolour soluble coloured pencils: 1 light, 1 dark

 sharpie pen, fine- Staples or similar

 drawing pad/sketch book

 ruler or straight edge

 view finder

 acrylic markers:.2mm or .4mm- 1 dark , 1 mid value grey, 1 white


Painting equipment

 palette knife

 water containers: acrylic

 oils:odourless mineral spirits

 paper towels

 rubber shaper

 brushes: Acrylics: watercolour & acrylic synthetics- flats,round,  

                                riggers or small rounds  #2-#4

                  0ils;         mix of hogs hair, synthetic firm & soft brushes –

                                mix of sizes


  Paints : artist grade only

  Acrylics:  Titanium white,  yellow- cad , light, ochre,

                     Quinacradone burnt orange

                     transparent red oxide, cad red light, alizarin crimson,

                    Dioxazine purple, ultramarine blue, pthalo blue, viridian,

                    Neutral grey- value 5, burnt sienna or indian red, raw                         umber,

                    Chrome oxide green, ivory black,

                    Light blue permanent (Liquidex)

                    pthalo cerulean blue (Stephenson)

                    Golden liquids ( for glazing): pthalo blue green shade,

                   quin violet, burnt orange


Oils:          I use water- mixable brands as they are easy to clean up but this  is                     your choice.          

Palette:   Same range as acrylics
